Don’t expect to see LiAngelo Ball’s name called by the Los Angeles Lakers on draft day – or ever.
According to the New York Times’ Marc Stein, the Lakers most-recent workout of LiAngelo Ball doesn’t necessarily mean the team is toying with drafting him. Stein says there’s “extreme” pessimism about Gelo’s Lakers chances. In fact, it’s so bad, the G-League may not be an option.
A dribble of draft scuttle for those interested: The Lakers had LiAngelo Ball in for a well-chronicled workout this week but there is pessimism in the extreme coming out of L.A. today that the Lakers have any intentions for him … G-League or otherwise

Can’t wait to see how LaVar spins this.
The middle Ball brother is a talented basketball player, but unlike Lakers point guard Lonzo, he’s simply not good enough to play in the NBA. There’s a reason he’s on zero draft boards and had to play in Lithuania last season.
Does that mean LiAngelo has zero chance to make the NBA someday? Absolutely not. Stranger things have happened. However, if you’re expecting him to wear Lakers gold or any other pro (G-League included) jersey in the upcoming season, it’s probably worth lowering your expectations.
