Counselor to the President, Kellyanne Conway is a huge Eagles fan apparently, so, naturally, she compared the Eagles 38-7 blowout victory over the Minnesota Vikings to Donald Trump winning the presidency in 2016.
Appearing on Fox and Friends, the pro-Trump talking head made the comparison calling the underdog Eagles a team that’s ‘always counted out.’
“People always count out the Eagles,” she continued. “But I’m really happy for the team and I’ll tell you why, I’m happy for Nick Foles, I’m happy for the team it was a huge team effort, but also they’re constantly counted out, they’re constantly said, you can’t win, [sic] it sounds familiar to me, you can’t win you can’t do it, so, go Eagles!”
As much as I personally don’t care for Conway or her politics, it’s not the worst comparison in the world. We were all shocked (besides Trump’s based) on election day when Trump beat democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. The Eagles, the underdog with Foles behind center, beat the best defense in the NFL handily. Both were upsets.
The Eagles have a legit chance to win the Super Bowl. I can imagine the White House will become even more divided if the Patriots – who have two of the most significant Trump fans in coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady – lose. Ugh, regardless of the result.
