High school football is all about the love of the game and having a good time with your friends. Anything more than that is an added benefit.

For Geneseo High School football players in Geneseo, New York, they decided that playing the game wasn’t all they wanted to do. Before a game against Bolivar-Richburg high school, seven players on Geneseo took oxycodone. Mind you oxycodone is a very, very strong drug and has horrible side effects. Not exactly a drug you’d want to take before participating in a sporting event.

Geneseo would go on to win the game 26-24 despite the players taking the drug. After the game, a player on Geneseo let the coaches know that these players had taken the drug that they found at one parents home.

It led to an investigation and after it all was over with, they decided to cancel the rest of their football season.

The superintendent of the school district kicked the guilty parties off of the team but it also meant that the team wasn’t going to have enough participants to field a team. The punishment was not only for those involved but for the team as a whole which would be absolutely crushing.

It looks like a criminal investigation may also be taking place soon as the police chief of the town has said that they are looking into the incident as well.

A weird situation is only going to get weirder and it will continue to evolve. Let it be known though that dumb decisions don’t come without consequences.
