Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James is playing defense against Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin’s remarks that the current GOAT would choose New York over L.A. in free agency.

On the View From the Cheap Seats podcast, Griffin discussed LeBron’s upcoming free agency. Griffin said he couldn’t see LeBron joining the Lakers, but could see him coming to New York.

“Honestly, I don’t see him coming to L.A. period,” Griffin said … “I could see him going to New York before L.A.”

It’s not the biggest endorsement of the possibility, but it’s an interesting tidbit nonetheless.

TMZ cameras caught up with LeBron and asked him about the comments. In understandable fashion, James pled the fifth, telling photogs “I don’t even know what you’re talking about shawty.”

That’s the expected answer from LeBron. Do you really expect him to be like “Yeah, New York’s great, but I also want to go to L.A. too”? No. Whether he’s leaving Cleveland after next season won’t become public knowledge until James announces it. His inner circle simply doesn’t leak.

So, while Griffin’s opinion is interesting, that’s all it is, an opinion.
