Now that there are two NFL teams in the greater Los Angeles area, it is going to take some convincing for people’s fandom. The Los Angeles Chargers and Rams are going to be sharing a stadium once they move into their new stadium. One side is already trying to drum up support in a very weird way.

The Chargers as part of their transition to LA is offering free tattoos for anyone who wants them.

The problem is you have to be at the Shamrock Social Club in between a twelve-hour span if you want to be able to take advantage.

Interestingly enough, when they left town, San Diego was making national news for its willingness to remove tattoos for people that wanted to trade in their fandom. Is this a way to try to get similar fans back in the fold?

Regardless, as far as promotions go, this is wacky. Anyone who has a tattoo or is looking for one normally meets with the artist about what they want. This is a quick process and may leave fans disappointed.

On the other side of the spectrum, imagine if you’re a fan of the Chargers and don’t have any need for a tattoo. This is appealing to a small group of fans.

As the second team in town, you’ll try anything apparently even tattooing your fan base on the fly. They are likely hoping you side with the plucky underdog.
