Instagram is testing out a new filtering system for mean comments and Kanye West’s lyrics are serving as a guinea pig.

In a recent Wired piece, it’s revealed a new program “DeepText” – a machine-learning text filter which filter’s mean comments, spam, and breaks down context.” Here’s a simpler explanation from Wired.

“[DeepText is] like the brain of an adult whose entire memory has been wiped and who will now devote themself to whatever linguistic task you assign.”

So, to test the program, Instagram has been running Kanye West lyrics through to see how DeepText responds. Unsurprisingly, the lines with curse words and offensive content have been banned, while the SFW lyrics pass through the filter.

So, this lyric: GOOD!

“Inter century anthems based off inner city tantrums
Based off the way we was branded
Face it, Jerome get more time than Brandon
And at the airport they check all through my bag
And tell me that it’s random”

This lyric? NO!

Now if I f**k this model
And she just bleached her a**hole
And I get bleach on my T-shirt
I’mma feel like an a**hole

The future is so weird. But, kudos to Instagram for using Kanye as a foundation to test a filtering system. That’s downright poetic.
