Wednesday is “Back to the Future Day” as it marks the date that Marty McFly traveled to in Back to the Future II and Nike has begun to hint that they have something big in store for fans when October 21, 2015 finally rolls around.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Nike had patented auto-lacing technology and it didn’t take people long to connect the self-tying laces to the Nike Air Mags that Fox sports in the Back to the Future franchise.

Nike had made 1,500 pairs of the Mag back in 2011. Those pairs (which didn’t have self-lacing technology) were auctioned off in order to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. However, the recent patenting of self-tying laces, combined with Nike designer Tinker Hatfield’s assurance that the shoe would return in 2015 has led many to speculate that Nike is getting prepared to drop the new Nike Air Mag on Back to the Future Day.

Nike isn’t dissuading the hype either. They shot this tweet to Michael J. Fox on Tuesday evening.

Yeah, fans of the Mag may want to keep their eyes peeled on Nike’s Twitter account tomorrow.

For those who want to rock something a little less futuristic, Nike has already confirmed that they will release a retro of the Nike Bruin that Fox also wore in Back to the Future.
