It goes without saying, but don’t try this at home.

Leave cliff jumping like this to the professionals like Laso Schaller, who recently set a new world record for a leap off a waterfall according to Red Bull.

A lot of preparation went into the astonishing 193 foot dive into a 26-foot deep aerated pool at the Cascada del Salto, Maggia, Switzerland.

The magnitude of this jump required more preparation than your standard take-a-breath-and-go waterfall jump. Under sunny blue skies, Schaller and team first built a platform to give him a clean, controlled exit, with enough projection to clear the rock wall. Secondly, they explored the area with scuba gear – and set six tanks in the pool to aerate the water and soften the landing. Finally, they did a number of rock drops – timing the landing, seeing the fall line.

According to the Daily Mail, the jump was not without its problems. Schaller unfortunately missed the aerated section of the pool and he landed in harder water than was originally anticipated. He pulled his right leg a bit as a result.

All that work was definitely worth it as the video that Red Bull and Schaller were able to create out of the jump is jaw-dropping. If you’re afraid of heights, this is probably the best way to experience cliff jumping.
