Zack Greinke is reaching levels of terrifying dominance. The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher extended his scoreless streak to 43 2/3 innings with a gem against the helpless Nationals on Sunday. The veteran hurled eight shutout innings, yielding only three hits and one walk while striking out 11 men. He has not given up a non-All-Star Game run since June 13th when he allowed two earned runs over eight innings. Greinke has allowed only 19 hits and six walks over his last six starts.

He now boasts a minuscule 1.30 ERA and is only two excellent outings away from Orel Hershiser’s legendary 1988 59-inning scoreless streak. Greinke is comfortably the best pitcher in the game right now, but teammate Brett Anderson implores us all to consider another much-closer debate:

We’ll take the 1.30 ERA, but appreciate Anderson’s attention to detail.
