Everyone expected to hear a lot of criticism of Chambers Bay during this U.S. Open this week, but considering the amount of negative attention bombarded upon the young course over the last few weeks, the overall criticism has been relatively light. Plenty of players have still complained about the course and maybe some others are simply waiting to see what the weekend has in store before laying into the course and layout.

Henrik Stenson is not waiting and although he stopped short of completely demolishing the Puget Sound course, he did have some amusingly negative comments following Friday’s round, telling Golf.com that the greens are like broccoli:

“.It’s borderline laughable at some of the greens and some of the pin positions, when we’re actually almost better off plugged in a bunker than being on the top of a ridge…And it’s pretty much like putting on broccoli.

Yes, the 4-time PGA Tour winner compared a golf course’s greens to a bumpy and lopsided vegetable. Stenson was tied for the lead at five-under after the first round, but after a 4-four 74 on Friday, he sits at one-under and four shots off the lead. And he’s clearly not thrilled about it.
