On Thursday, the San Francisco 49ers decided to unveil their new alternate uniform at their draft party.

Of course, by “unveil,” I mean that the team teased a partial image to the team’s Snapchat because there’s nothing like judging a partial image of a jersey’s shoulder on a social media service that instantly deletes itself.

Luckily, a screen shot of the new jersey was grabbed.

Paul Lukas of Uni-Watch also posted a photo, although this one is unconfirmed to have come from the Niners draft party.

If these are legit, thank goodness they’ll only be used as alternates. In a vacuum, the red and black jersey look is fine, but there’s nothing that screams “THESE ARE 49ERS JERSEYS” about these digs. The near-total exclusion of gold (outside of the awkward gold Nike Swoosh) makes these things look dreary and flat, especially with how black the jerseys are. For a team that is named after the San Francisco gold rush, the uniforms could certainly use more color.
