On Thursday, a video of someone who looked an awful lot like ESPN reporter Britt McHenry surfaced online showing her belittling and berating a woman over the fact that she worked at a towing lot.

Plenty of words were said and none of them were nice.

With the video out there for the entire world to see, McHenry issued a statement on Twitter confirming that it was her in the video along with some words expressing regret over saying “some insulting and regrettable things.”

In an intense and stressful moment, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me and said some insulting and regrettable things. As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road. I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake.

The incident that spurred McHenry to denigrate some poor woman over her job, assumed lack of education and teeth reportedly sprung from her car being towed earlier this month.

The apology is a nice gesture but the insane belittling of a woman’s worth based on her job is something that should never have happened under any circumstances (even when dealing with towing companies that are admittedly THE WORST).

UPDATE: McHenry has been suspended from ESPN for one week for the incident.

As a reference point, McHenry’s suspension is the same length as the ones that were issued to Jemele Hill for referencing Hitler in a column and Stephen A. Smith received for his disastrously awful opinions on domestic abuse.
