Arizona Cardinals v San Francisco 49ers

Over the weekend, it was reported that a deal between Frank Gore and the Philadelphia Eagles was all but assured.

Now, on the eve of free agency, it appears that Gore is having doubts about committing to the Eagles.

Per Adam Schefter of ESPN:

It is also being reported that Gore has gone as far as contacting Colts players to gain a better understanding of the organization.

According to NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal, Gore shares a Miami connection with personnel on the Colts’ coaching staff which could make the prospect of landing their enticing. The Colts, like the Eagles, would also have a need for a well-rounded running back like Gore.

Indianapolis has connections to Gore with former Miami assistants Chuck Pagano and Rob Chudzinski on the staff. More importantly, they have a huge need for a reliable power running back.

The NFL’s free agency period kicks off tomorrow. At this point, it’s not even clear if Frank Gore knows who he is going to sign with.
