Veteran defensive lineman Vince Wilfork took to Twitter on Thursday morning to post a statement confirming that the New England Patriots would not be picking up his option for next season, making him a free agent.

Here’s the message:

Wilfork, 33, was drafted by the Patriots in 2004 and has spent his entire career in New England, becoming one of the most feared nose tackles in the league and winning two Super Bowls with the Patriots in that time.

There’s still a chance that he could re-sign with the Pats on a new deal, but he’ll also draw significant interest on the open market. The language in the statement he posted certainly makes it seem like he believes that, more than likely, he won’t be a New England Patriot next season.
