Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell is widely considered to be among the brightest offensive minds across the NFL but his late decision to throw a slant pass in the Super Bowl is getting intense criticism. With many assuming the Seahawks would simply allow their bruising running back Marshawn Lynch to pound the ball in for a potential game-winning touchdown, Bevell elected to throw the slant and it was disastrous.

After Pete Carroll initially took the blame, as any good head coach would do, Bevell took full blame for the play call but proceeded to take a very unnecessary shot at his wide receiver.

Yes, one could argue that Lockett could have made a more aggressive play on the ball, especially considering the circumstances, but this is an awfully touchy comment from a coach.
