This season will mark the second straight year the Los Angeles Kings have played in an outdoor game by way of the NHL’s ‘Stadium Series’, which made its league debut in early 2014. This means that the team was tasked with designing a special new jersey to be worn during the event.

For last year’s outdoor game against the Ducks at Dodger Stadium,  the Kings donned some nifty silver sweaters with their alternate crown logo displayed on the front (above). This year, the team is reportedly going with a much different look for the February 21st, 2015 game against the Sharks at Levi’s Stadium:

The two-toned look was first reported by Mayor’s Manor, who say that the jerseys will be officially unveiled at the team store inside Staples Center on Tuesday, December 16.

It’s certainly a unique look and I want to wait until I see it modeled in a few weeks before I pass judgement on these mockups, but my initial reaction is that the white-on-white is going to look pretty weird – especially in the bright environment of an outdoor setting.

I’m also quite disappointed with lack of Burger King presence on this jersey, especially since the team led us to believe that it would be making a comeback.
