On Wednesday, the Patriots were preparing for their match up with the San Diego Chargers on Sunday by practicing in Southern California.

As is often the case when it comes to Patriots’ practices, the team practiced without numbers on the backs of their jerseys (the team does this during the spring to ensure that players communicate and get to know each other by name). And while the build and face of Rob Gronkowski is damn-near instantly recognizable, the Patriots star tight end added a number to the back of his jersey to helpfully stand out in the crowd.

Of course, because it’s Gronk, he decided to go with ’69’ instead of the expected ’87’ because Gronk will Gronk when Gronk feels like it.

Somehow, the less context there is about this, the better.

The Summer of Gronk never ends, and it is glorious.
