The NBA season is quickly approaching and one of the most anticipated openers on the schedule will be LeBron James’ first home game back in Cleveland, where he re-signed this summer. Sprite and LeBron teamed up for a different kind of ‘home game’ for a new ad, though, and it’s actually pretty cool.

From Sprite:

LeBron James’ first home game is not in Cleveland; it’s back in his hometown of Akron, Ohio with the community. Sprite turned Patterson Park, a neglected court in Akron, into a blank canvas for New York urban artist, Futura, to transform. Once the court was transformed, Sprite held a community pickup game and basketball clinic for the community to enjoy their new place of solace. To everyone’s surprise, LeBron shows up to the newly refurbished Patterson Park during the festivities and surprises everyone, adding the icing on the cake to top off his real first game back home.

When he announced that he would be returning home to Cleveland this summer, LeBron stated that a big reason behind it was because of his hometown community and how much it meant to him. Looks like he’s having a pretty positive impact on that community before even playing his first game back with the Cavs, which is pretty cool.
