Two very familiar faces will face-off for a chance to go to the World Series. The Giants have been to the NLCS in 2010 and 2012 while the Cardinals have been there in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The last time these teams met in the 2012 NLCS, the Cardinals stunningly lost to the Giants after being up 3-1 in the best-of-seven series. This is going to be good.

Overview:

Yeah, these teams have pretty much dominated the NL over the past half decade. The Giants and Cardinals are fairly evenly matched across the board. Quietly great managing and extremely solid pitching complemented by small-ball hitting and sound defense define both St. Louis and San Francisco. The Giants have overcome a plethora of injuries thanks to the managing of Bruce Bochy while the Cards will look for some revenge for the 2012 NLCS in their fourth consecutive Championship Series appearance. A key for the Cardinals is that Adam Wainwright will be getting a couple extra days of rest after a less than stellar appearance in the NLDS. Madison Bumgarner will be on normal rest.
