New York Giants’ Larry Donnell had the best game of his career last Sunday, catching seven passes, three for touchdowns. It was a breakout performance that a lot of people didn’t see coming, including Donnell himself apparently. The tight end revealed on Wednesday that he left himself on his fantasy football team’s bench over the weekend, leaving a lot of points off the board and gift-wrapping a victory for his opponent.

Yes, the Giants’ tight end admitted Wednesday that he indeed benched himself in fantasy football in favor of 49ers tight end Vernon Davis, missing out on his career-best performance that included seven catches for 54 yards and three touchdowns.

Donnell’s fantasy team, on which he starts Drew Brees, Frank Gore, Anquan Boldin and Mike Wallace, among others, lost by 15 points.

“Would’ve won if I played me,” Donnell told The Record after practice Wednesday. “During the game, I’m like, ‘Really?’ That’s the honest truth.” (via)

Trust me, buddy…I know how you feel.

Something tells me Vernon Davis can expect to ride the bench this weekend, though.
