At the Tour of Tuscany over the weekend, Columbia’s women’s cycling team was the buzz of the cycling world but the attention wasn’t due to the cyclists’ athletic prowess.

It was for their uniforms, which, erhm, was poorly planned. The jerseys featured red, yellow and white lining, which would have been fine and boring except Columbia also decided to add an odd beige paneling on the uniform’s midsection. Putting aside the fact that the beige looks completely out of place in the uniform’s color scheme, the placement of the beige panel itself basically made it look like the cyclists were wearing nothing between their midriff and their thighs. It wasn’t the best look is what I’m saying.

Seriously, who thought it would be a good idea to make the crotch region of a uniform completely skin-toned?

Union Cycliste Internationale president Brian Cookson let it be known that he wasn’t pleased with Columbia’s kit and he stated that the matter of the uniforms without “any standard of decency” would be looked into. Call the fashion police as well.
