Miami Marlins v Colorado Rockies

Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton has received an enormous amount of support following a gruesome HBP during Thursday night’s game in Milwaukee.

The young slugger tweeted his appreciation for those words of prayer and encouragement:

Stanton suffered major facial lacerations and broken bones amongst other injuries as a result from the pitch, but it is unlikely he will need surgery and should be discharged from the hospital on Friday afternoon, according to Juan Rodriguez of the Miami Sun Sentinel.

It remains unclear when he will be able to return to baseball but many are assuming it could be weeks, if not months, before he is fully recovered and ready to resume his destruction of NL pitching.
