The ambiguity of the term “sport” has never been more prevalent, as more cable channels, websites and even professional leagues are popping up across the world that feature obscure or little-known “sports”.

According to a Reddit survey, there are many different opinions regarding a “sport” being called a “sport” versus a hobby, leisure activity, gambling, etc. and the results are very interesting.

A few notes:

1) Joey Chestnut might eat the 85% that don’t believe Competitive Eating is a sport

2) How many people actually know what Jai alai is, let alone if they know it’s a sport?

3) Poker players are not athletes.
