Ottawa Senators goaltender Andrew Hammond recently had a new goalie mask made for the upcoming season, and it features an interesting detail that has captured caught a lot of people’s attention – the Hamburglar, a famous McDonald’s cartoon character, is pictured on the side.

According to the mask’s artist, Jay Bartziokas, “Hamburglar” was Hammond’s nickname while he was in college at Bowling Green. We’ll have to assume that was because of the similarities in the first half of their names, not because the goalie earned a reputation of stealing hamburgers.

The depiction of the famous cartoon has a few slight alterations – the Hamburglar is donning goalie gear and is robbing a puck instead of a delicious burger – but it looks pretty great and is a cool & creative incorporation nontheless.
