Although the preseason is meaningless to many, it is often a critical time for backups and end-of-the-depth-chart guys. Carolina Panthers backup punter Jordan Gay must have felt some of that pressure in yesterday’s preseason match up with the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the third quarter of the game, Gay was called upon to punt the ball. He connected (at least) and it sailed high in the air. For all of eight yards.

Luckily for the Panthers, it’s the preseason. Unluckily for Gay, it’s these kinds of plays that makes it that much harder to make a regular season roster.
