Ann Arbor police have released surveillance footage of suspended Michigan Wolverines wide receiver Csont’e York assaulting a man outside of a bar in July. The sucker-punch broke the 23-year old victim’s jaw in three places, requiring his jaw to be wired shut.

As you can see in the footage below, York (in the bucket hat) and teammate Da’Mario Jones (in the tank top) get in a confrontation with another patron at the bar. Jones and the victim appear to exchange words with their faces very close to one another before York unleashes one heavy punch that knocks the victim unconscious.

According to York, the confrontation was sparked after the man bumped into the football players and taunted Jones.

“He pressed up on him face to face exchanging words for no reason,” York told police. “I got (nervous) and scared about the situation so I hit the guy. I punched him.” (via)

Certainly doesn’t look like York had any reason to be “scared about the situation” when he decided to deliver the blow, that’s for sure. The wide receiver was suspended indefinitely earlier this month and the video is pretty solid evidence that he won’t be rejoining the team any time soon.

He’ll be charged with aggravated assault and two counts of assault and battery in court later this month.
