Unless you’re a Jason Statham aficiondo (and, really, why wouldn’t you be?), you may not be familiar with his pre-action movie career as a competitive diver. He was a member of the British National Diving Team for a dozen years, reaching his competitive peak at the 1990 Commonwealth Games (for the uninitiated: the Commonwealth Games are a very poor man’s Olympics comprised of, well, Commonwealth Nations). Statham placed 8th in the one-meter springboard, and 11th in three-meter. He did not compete in the platform because even badass action stars know where to draw the line.

Statham eventually traded in his Speedo for some actual clothes (he was a model for French Connection), and was introduced to Guy Ritchie in the late ’90s. And the rest is history.
