For the first time since that terrible press conference held by the Ravens earlier this summer, Ray Rice addressed the media in a press conference at training camp. As expected, most of the questions he faced were about the domestic violence incident in which he knocked out his wife at an Atlantic City casino back in February.

While it’s pretty impossible to sympathize with a guy who still hasn’t received adequate punishment for a reprehensible act, Rice seemed a lot more remorseful and sincere in his statements of regret during this session with the media. As all of his teammates stood in attendance, he finally apologized publicly to his wife – which he failed to do the first time around – and talked about letting his family and community down.

It’s a step in the right direction for Rice, but he still has a lot of steps to go.
