The Texas Rangers are in the middle of a tremendously difficult season. But, earlier this evening, the worst team in the AL West found itself in a position to take a game from the New York Yankees. Leading 4-1 in the sixth inning, the Rangers were nearly there. Then, it all went to shit. Here’s how it all went down:

1. Carlos Beltran singles home two runs (Texas: 4, Yankees: 3, 1 out)

2. Brian McCann hits a sacrifice fly to score one run (Texas: 4, Yankees: 4, 2 outs)

3. Zoilo Almonte singles to score another run (Texas: 4, Yankees: 5, 2 outs)

4. Brendan Ryan doubles home two runs (Texas: 4, Yankees: 7, 2 outs)

5. Disaster (Texas: 4, Yankees: 8, 2 outs)

The Rangers then got out of the nightmare inning. They would lose the game by a score of 12-11. They’re now 42-65 on the season.
