Yes, Jerry Sandusky’s name somehow repeatedly finds it way back into the news. Jay Paterno, son of former Penn State coach Joe Paterno, is suing the university following his dismissal from the coaching staff two years ago.

Jay, along with another former assistant, Bill Kenney, filed a federal lawsuit in Philadelphia on Monday, saying they had been linked unfairly to the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.

The pair, with 40 years of combined coaching experience at Penn State, is seeking more than $1 million in damages from the incident, citing the following in the lawsuit (via USA Today):

…let go at the height of the Sandusky scandal’s dark shroud and without any attempt whatsoever by Penn State to preserve the reputations of these guiltless individuals.

The lawsuit contains additional charges against Penn State, including issues with the school’s handling of the state wage law and contractual obligations.

Paterno had been on the coaching staff for 17 years before his termination in 2012 following the hire of Bill O’Brien has head coach. O’Brien has since been replaced by former Vanderbilt coach James Franklin after becoming Texans head coach.
