Yeah, I know, this video is a month old, but it’s been making the rounds on the Internets lately, so — for those who missed it — I figured I’d share it. Also, consider it a nice respite from all the free agency talk. Over the last couple of years, NBA TV’s brilliant and insightful Open Court has been unarguably the best round table discussion you’ll find regarding every facet of the league, its players and history. Segment topics range anywhere from serious discussions about race in sports, to career what-ifs, first pairs of sneakers growing up, and oddball, Shaqtin’ A Fool-esque subjects.

The latest episode featured a discussion about when players on the Open Court panel — Grant Hill, Kenny Smith, Isiah Thomas, Brent Barry, Steve Kerr, Steve Smith, Dennis Scott — realized their careers were over. It’s a funny, bittersweet segment covering a topic we don’t often hear players discuss so candidly.

As a bonus, here’s another segment (titled “Missed Opportunities”) which discusses Shawn Kemp’s frustrating career.
