Michael Jordan 1991

If it were any other player and any other number, this anniversary would have barely registered as something noteworthy. However, because the date in question deals with basketball’s greatest player of all time, it is worth mentioning that today is the 23rd anniversary of Michael Jordan winning his first NBA Finals.

The Chicago Bulls beat the Los Angeles Lakers in five games and the victory solidified Michael’s ascension to dominance in the NBA as aging stars like Magic Johnson began to fade.

The 1991 Finals featured many memorable moments, but none were better than this one in Game 2.

As for the actual anniversary of the Game 5 victory, Jordan was fantastic. While Scottie Pippen actually led the Bulls in scoring with 32 points, Jordan recorded 30 points, 10 assists, four rebounds and five steals. And of course, it all led to this incredible image.

It is hard to believe it’s been twenty three years since Jordan won his first championship. His greatness has reached a nearly untouchable status over the past two decades.

Lets be real, this will never go out of style..
