Earlier this month, Brian Gibbons was playing alongside Sidney Crosby with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup playoffs. But – since the Penguins were eliminated by the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals – Gibbons is back in the AHL competing with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the Calder Cup playoffs.

Gibbons came up big for the AHL Pens in their Game 7 matchup against the Providence Bruins on Wednesday night, when he scored this beautiful goal on a spectacular individual effort. Could the Bruins’ defensive have been better? Certainly, but you’ve got to give Gibbons credit for creativity and skill.

The Penguins jumped out to a 5-0 lead on the Bruins, who fell just short of an epic comeback and were eliminated after losing the final game of the series by a final of 5-4.
