In a story that proves persistence pays off, NESN broadcaster and former Red Sox sideline reporter Jenny Dell recently attended junior prom with a Rockland, MA high school student.

Dell, who was reassigned from NESN’s Red Sox coverage after starting a relationship with Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks, accepted Cameron Stuart’s invitation to prom after the high schooler put together a social media campaign that stretched back to last October.

“I thought it was fantastic,” Dell said about Cameron’s Twitter invitation. “When you see someone that puts that much time and effort into something, you have to take the time and give him the benefit of the doubt.”

While Cameron was not the first person to ask Dell to a prom over social media, his persistence made him the first to win her over.

“There’s been people who have tweeted out here or there, ‘Will you come to prom with me?’, ‘Would you be my date to this wedding?’ but nothing like the effort that this man put in right here,” Dell said. (via)

Stuart admitted that he was nervous when he found out Dell was accepting his invitation, but said he felt “like a million bucks.”. As he very well should when you successfully lock up the hottest date at prom.
