Best Alternative Album:

The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You – Neko Case

Trouble Will Find Me – The National

Hesitation Marks – Nine Inch Nails

Lonerism – Tame Impala

Modern Vampires of the City – Vampire Weekend

Who Should Win:

Sully – I wasn’t into any of these albums except Vampire Weekend and some of Tame Impala.  I can’t get into The National or Nine Inch Nails, the Neko Case album just snuck by me.  So this one will be short, Vampire Weekend should win for their stellar third album.

Michael – Although I don’t think they will, The National should win this category. With a constantly maturing sound, each album The National has put out has become more and more of an actual musical journey that they invite their fans to join them on. An album that features both imaginative vocals and teeming drumming throughout, Trouble Will Find Me will be a familiar album in my rotation for years to come.

Who Should Be Nominated:

Sully – Repave – Volcano Choir, Justin Vernon from Bon Iver never sleeps and while he’s up he’s making great music like Volcano Choirs second album.  This was my first introduction to Volcano Choir and I was instantly blown away.  I was obviously reminded of Bon Iver but if they were more experimental and a little heavier.

Michael – Bill Callahan- Dream River –  In what is masterpiece of an album, Bill Callahan takes his years of musical and life experience and uses Dream River as a digital diary to unleash all of his emotions through his guitar and sobering deep vocal inflection. An album that inevitably encourages you to look within yourself and the daily happenings around you, Dream River is the perfect recipe of resourceful lyrics and calming instrumentation

Who Will Win:

Sully – Modern Vampires of the City – Vampire Weekend

Michael – Modern Vampires of the City – Vampire Weekend
