melo free agency
1. Melo has already expressed his desire to test free agency

In the beginning of the season, Melo told reporters that he will opt out of his contract and test the free agent waters in 2014. He then went on to say that he has no plans on leaving the Knicks, he just simply wants to be “pursued.” Melo backed his desire with an intelligent response,”[Free agency is] just an experience that I thought would be an experience I’d want to experience.” Narcissism aside, perhaps the real reason Melo is opting out is because the Knicks will be able to, and will most definitely pay him $129 million for five years. Yeah, no that’s definitely the reason for opting out. Melo will be 30 next year, so do we really want to give him $129 million? Trade him this season, and get something valuable back for him.
