After an illustrious career spanning seventeen seasons with the Colorado Rockies, the only team he has ever called his own, Todd Helton played his final game at Coors Field last night. Helton, who announced his retirement last week, was honored with a touching ceremony before Wednesday night’s game against the Red Sox in Colorado.
When the game began, Helton contributed a touching moment of his own when he blasted a homer into the right field bleachers on the third pitch of his first at-bat. He also later added a sacrifice fly and a double to go 2-3 with 3 RBIs on the night. It was just a reminder of why Helton has been one of Colorado’s favorite athletes over much of the past few decades.
