Rasheed Wallace

Word out of Orlando Summer League is that former Detroit Piston (and Bullet, and Blazer, and Celtic, and Knick…and Atlanta Hawk for approximately 42 minutes) Rasheed Wallace will be joining new head coach Mo Cheeks’ staff in the Motor City. His focus will be to work with Detroit’s young interior duo of Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe (and possibly convince Josh Smith to stop shooting ill-advised 20-footers).

Wallace had returned this season to play for the Knicks after a two-year hiatus from the league. As he was only on a one-year deal, he is not required to file retirement papers. Wallace played an integral role on the Pistons’ 2003-04 championship team, and helped carry them to back-to-back Finals appearances, along with five consecutive Eastern Conference Finals appearances from 2004 to 2008.
