Bethanie Mattek-Sands Wants To Wear Google Glass At Wimbledon

If one were to take a quick look at Bethannie Mattek-Sands’ Twitter profile, it is plainly obvious that she is not afraid to speak her mind.

The unseeded American turned some heads this week when she debuted her new Wimbledon themed hairdo at the Annual Player Party. In a move that The All England Club must’ve really loved, the 58th ranked Mattek-Sands dyed her hair green and blue for the tournament.

She then turned heads again when she announced that she will be wearing Google Glass during her matches, Business Insider reports:

The unseeded Mattek-Sands is seeking permission from Wimbledon officals to wear the computerized eyewear while she competes according to Sharon Guardian of Computerworld.

In addition to the quirky nature of Google Glass on the court, a spokesperson for Google told Guadin that Mattek-Sands already uses the eyewear during practice to give her and her coaches a better view of her strokes.

While Wimbledon has yet to make a ruling, their decision could hinge on whether the glasses give Mattek-Sands a competitive advantage moreso than breaking the tournament’s conservative dress code.
