Los Angeles Dodgers superstar outfielder Matt Kemp grew up in Oklahoma so it really struck home when he saw the images of the destruction caused by the massive tornado. Kemp was given firsthand accounts from family and friends back home of the complete devastation. Kemp wanted to help Oklahoma in their most trying time so he announced this tremendous gesture on his Twitter.

Kemp is quite familiar with the devastating forces of tornadoes, he said he was in junior high school when an E-5 tornado with 300-mph winds killed 36 people and leveled the same area in 1999.

Kemp’s generous offer isn’t surprising, it was only a couple of weeks ago he gave his jersey and shoes to a young man who is battling cancer. Kemp only has two home runs in 43 games this year, but I think the tragic events in Oklahoma will only motivate him even more.
