I learned that slide tackling a referee is legal today courtesy of this video. During a recent match between RKC Waalwijk and NEC Nijmegen in the Dutch Eredivisie, Waalwijk’s Jeff Stanstook out a referee with absolutely no repercussions. I’m not saying that every player around should start slide tackling refs, but it seems that they won’t be getting into trouble if they do so. Interesting concept to add a little spice to soccer.
