Remember how we were just telling you about all the cool Kobe Bryant memorabilia that you could bid on? Well it appears that Kobe has put the kibosh on the auction and any chance you had to get his historic collectables. Kobe’s lawyer Mark Campbell of Loeb & Loeb sent a cease and desist to Goldin Auctions who had planned to sell the memorabilia in June and at the moment appear to be continuing with that plan since they are still advertising the “Bryant Collection” on their website. Goldin has since filed suit against the Lakers star to allow them to continue with their auction next month.

Like most moms, Pamela Bryant kept her son’s accomplishments and reminders of his glorious youth, but her son happens to be NBA legend Kobe Bryant so he has more than a few Little League trophies. Pamela stored things like his jerseys, All-Star rings, and plaques in a storage facility in West Berlin, NJ that allegedly cost her $1,500 a month. About seven years ago the collection got to be too huge and inconvenient for Mrs. Bryant she asked asked Kobe’s wife, Vanessa, if she wanted the belongings. Vanessa said no, so Pamela assumed that those items now belonged to her. The suit states, “Pamela Bryant indicated to Ken Goldin that Kobe Bryant has never demanded the return of any of the items, nor were they in any way taken from [him] without his permission.” Pamela expected to make $1.5 million from the auction and then use that money to move to Nevada.

So many questions here; like why doesn’t Kobe buy his mom a house in Nevada or why can’t Kobe buy his memorabilia from his mom for $1.5 million and why does Kobe detest his mother so much? Kobe Bryant has a net worth of over $200 million and he’ll make $28 million this year so $1.5 million is pretty much pocket change for him. I guess Kobe is really worried that the Los Angeles Lakers might actually amnesty him because of his Achilles injury and he’ll lose out on his $30 million salary in 2013-2014 or really, really hates his mom. So the lesson learned is that money does not solve your family issues and probably makes it even worse.
