I really need to start tuning into more AHL games, as it seems there is a very consistent high entertainment value.  The latest newsworthy item to come out of the AHL was during a game between the Springfield Falcons and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.  The two teams held nothing back as they faced off and emotions and fists were leading the charge.  The two teams engaged in an unscripted version of Friday Night Fights and racked up a total of 244 penalty minutes.  You can enjoy the box score HERE.

“I’m proud of our guys. They stepped up for each other all the way through,” Falcons coach Brad Larsen said. “I don’t expect anything else from that group. They’re a very caring group in there; they play hard for each other.”

… For their roles in a brawl early in the third period, Cody Bass and Dalton Smith received the Falcons’ first game-misconduct penalties since April 1 at Worcester. Springfield had been one of three teams yet to receive a game misconduct. Falcons captain Ryan Craig got the boot for his role in the period’s third incident. The Sound Tigers lost Matt Donovan, Mike Halmo and Nathan McIver for their involvement in the physicality.

In the third period alone, the Sound Tigers picked up 122 penalty minutes to 65 for the Falcons. “It kind of is what it is,” Joudrey said. “The most important thing for us is guys stuck together.”

The real fun begins around the 2 minute and 40 second portion of the video.
