Texas coach Mack Brown said that he would run the first play of Saturday’s game against Iowa State out of the wishbone formation, as a tribute to former Texas coach Darrell Royal who passed away this week. Royal’s claim to fame is bringing the wishbone to college football way back in 1968. Running the play would have been enough of a tribute, but executing it to perfection and netting 47 yards on the play was icing on the cake. QB David Ash pitched the ball to Jaxon Shipley, who fooled every defender by throwing it back to Ash, who connected with tight end Greg Daniels for a 47-yard play. Goosebumps.
