CFL Wide Receiver Literally Slides Into Propane Heater [Video]

There was quite the scary moment for a Calgary Stampeders wide receiver during the fourth quarter of Friday’s 41-21 victory over the B.C. Lions. Stampeders’ wide receiver Maurice Price caught a pass and headed out of bounds towards the visiting bench at McMahon Stadium. Price wwas pushed down and literally ran into a propane heater.

Price recalls the incident:

“I was sliding so fast that I couldn’t stop myself,” said Price, who said he had some neck soreness, but it was perfectly fine afterwards.

“Fortunately, I’m all right. It could have been bad. I was looking dead into it. I knew right away.

“The little bit of athletic ability in me was enough to avoid it. I still managed to go head first into it, but not into it.”

The wide receiver was in the heater and unaware of what was actually going on, and the possible danger he was in.

“I didn’t really feel the heat,” said Price, who made several phone calls to family back home in Florida to tell them he was OK.

“I blacked out for a second and when I came to, they said I was stuck under the heater, but I’m all right.

“I haven’t seen it, but I’m not sure I want to see it. Some people said I went in it. Others say I went under it. I don’t know because I don’t want to see it.”

Price had to leave the game, but was fine with no injuries and finished the day up with four catches for 104 yards.
