Miami Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland acknowledged reports that he responded to a taunting Raiders fan with a very mature remark and expressed regret.
According to Armanda Salguero on the Miami Herald the fan told Ireland he should fire himself to which Ireland responded: “A–h—“. Apparently the exchange occured in a very relaxed and introductory way as Ireland visited his wife in the stands and later mingled with a few fans, one of which was the Raiders fan that introduced himself and offered up some advice.
Ireland has not been popular with hometown fans since becoming G.M. in 2008 but in his defense, he cannot be blamed for the Ted Ginn, Jr. 9th overall selection in 2007.
