Jamie Moyer, the 49-year-old lefty whose pitching career has spanned a whopping four decades, was released by the Orioles after his request.

When Moyer signed with the O’s earlier this month, he told the organization that he would make three starts with Triple-A Norfolk and then the O’s would make the decision to promote him or not. He pitched his three starts for Triple-A Norfolk this month, but never got promoted.

In those three starts, Moyer was 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA. He allowed 11 hits, no walks, and struck out 16 in 16 innings of work. Moyer will finish his career with 269 wins.

There’s a chance that he might get picked up by a poor-pitching team such as the Twins or Astros. But then again, he already got released by a poor-pitching team earlier this season – the Rockies.

I guess it’s safe to call it a career for Moyer.
