French Open Men’s Final Suspended Due to Rain

The Men’s Final of the French Open has been put on hold on account of rain. Rafael Nadal was leading Novak Djokovic,  6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 1-2, when the match was officially suspended. This may be good news for Nadal as it stopped what looked to be a big momentum shift for Djokovic. After being down two sets and 2-0 in the third set, he started to get back into a rhythm, winning eight games in a row. That lead to the capturing the first set he has ever beat Nadal in at Rolad Garros and the first Nadal has given up in this tournament, so far.

Nadal is trying to break his French Open title record tie (6) he currently shares with the great Bjorn Borg. Djokovic is also chasing history as he tries to become the first man to win four straight majors in 43 years.

The French Open will not end on a Sunday, like it has every time since 1973, when Ilie Nastase defeated Nikki Pilic on a Tuesday. The match will return to action on Monday at 1 p.m. Paris time, 7 a.m. ET.
