A 40-year-old man who was stabbed with a poison-tipped umbrella over a year ago has finally passed away. The incident happened in Hannover, Germany when the unnamed victim told police he was walking by himself as he passed a slim man that had some kind of sticky plaster on his face. The man proceeded to stab the victim in the butt with what police are identifying as a mercury-poisoned needle. Shortly after the incident, the victim fell into a coma. The coma lasted several months and the victim seemed to be getting better, but then suddenly died on Wednesday.

This incident is very similar to the 1978 murder of Bulgarian dissident Georgi Markov, who was killed with a poison-tipped umbrella on London’s Waterloo Bridge. Police have not identified the killer and have said they know of no reason for the assassination.

If you ask me, this is too weird to just be a random act of violence. Needless to say, I won’t be going on a stroll in the streets of Hannover anytime soon.
