Woman Proposes To Longtime Girlfriend At NHL Game On The Ice

  • by Chris Partlow

Saturday night at the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators game the crowd was treated to a marriage proposal between fans of the opposing teams and of the same sex. We love the fact that the teams got behind the propoal set-up between two ladies, it is great to see the NHL taking open stance like this. Kudos to the NHL.

Puck Daddy describes the great moment:

On Saturday night at Scotiabank Place, a Toronto Maple Leafs fan named Alicia stood on the ice during the second intermission wearing a blindfold. When it was removed, she looked up at the video scoreboard and read a message from her girlfriend, an Ottawa Senators fan named Christina.

Schmaltzy music played. Out walked Christina. They embraced and had a brief conversation, as the crowd began to wise up to what was about to happen.

Christina dropped to one knee while holding Alicia’s hand. The fans roared. She slid the engagement ring on, they shared a kiss and the Senators mascot proudly raised a sign that read “SHE SAID YES.” Just another night at the rink, eh?

That is so cute and romantic. Proposing in such a public place has so much potential to go wrong for any couple, but when it’s done right it’s adorable.

That they aren’t misogynist homophobes? Sounds good to me.

May they have a long and happy marriage, oh! which one is the wife?

What a stupid thing to do,all that does is confuse children that are brought up the right way knowing a marriage is woman and a man,not the same gender.I am a 100% christain and do believe in them marrying the same gender. It is a sin and they will all answer for it.

    Woman proposing to woman= SIck
Team getting behind them =SICK ,SICK
NHL allowing this and being alright with it= SICK, SICKER,SICKEST
only shows where the world view is and that they have been so inundated with SIN that they ARE welcoming HELL AND DOING EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO USHER IT IN.

Before its too late lets TURN BACK TO GOD

Shame on you, Sin is SIn and all the name calling”misogynist homophobes” won’t change anything. I will pray that they get their eyes opened and ask God to forgive them or they will be in eternity in HELL and regardless of all the tasteless jokes there won’t be any partying there only WEEPING, WAILING and Gnashing of teeth. Except no wrong can ever be right God has given us his Word and it plainly says .in
” Romans 1:22. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
    23. And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
    24. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
    25. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
    26. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
    27. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
    28. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
    29. Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
    30. Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
    31. Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
    32. Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. “

Darrell is right. The bible says this is wrong, and we MUST follow the rules of the bible. Another interesting rule in the bible is that eating shellfish is an abomination, as well as wearing mixed-fiber clothing. We are damned to hell if we eat shrimp or wearing cotton/poly blend shirts. I’ll bet these two women do those all the time too. Three strikes and they are out, right Darrell?
  • Anonymous
No no no, I said opposite sex and the same team !!!!!!!

Won’t someone think of the children? I’m christian too, and always follow all the rules in the Holy Bible. That means absolutely no same-sex stuff. It also means that we aren’t allowed to eat pork, which is another thing that goes on all the time at NHL games. People are eating hotdogs all over the place! What if my children see this sort of behavior? They might start to think that eating hotdogs is OK! God forbid, someday they may even eat a hotdog themselves. I, as a parent, will have failed on that sad day. I pray for all the NHL hotdog eaters of the world.
  • Anonymous
That was a good one, Darrell! Now will you tell us the one about The Three Little Bears? That is my children’s favorite fairytale in the whole world. I’m not sure they would have the patience for yours since it is so far-fetched.

John, you show a rudimentary knowledge of the Bible, one probably purposely with a bent toward disbelief rather than belief in God. The “rule” (actually ceremonial law) about eating shrimp applied to the Israelites at the time of Moses, in the definition of clean and unclean animals. Shrimp was forbidden, protecting the Israelites from eating foods that were subject to spoilage and contamination in a time before refrigeration and freezers. And, yes, it did require obedience to God’s instruction instead of giving in to man’s will. This instilled in the Hebrew people a mindset that they were indeed unique and different from those unbelievers they would soon be supplanting in the Promised Land. When Christ came some 1400 years later, He fulfilled the requirements of the law and ushered in a new age in history. Knowing no man could keep the law, He stepped forward to accept the prescribed penalty for disobedience on our behalf. (See Romans 3:21-31.) God still expects our obedience when confronted with lifestyles and behaviors that are opposed to purity and holiness — it’s called moral law. The Ten Commandments would be representative of Moral (as opposed to Ceremonial) laws. God, in His Word, never expressed even a hint of accepting homosexuality as being a moral and righteous behavior. Man will continue to put himself and his selfish will above God’s will, but at death, God’s truth (and subsequent judgment) will set disobedient where he belongs. If I were you, I’d be careful in how I presented or misrepresented God to others. You and I will be judged. May He invade your heart and implant His nature in you so that you may learn to trust and obey Him without defying Him.

John, patience is a quality the Bible looks highly upon. Perhaps your kids should be taught to develop some.

Isn’t “Judge Not, Lest Ye Be Judged” also in the bible? Come on people! Lets just be good to each other and let people love who they want to! It’s not hurting you and all this hating isn’t getting us anywhere.
  • Anonymous
Seriously Darrell, it’s nice that you are able to quote scriptures but, I notice that you only quote the ones that you believe support your position. The bible was intended as a tool of guidance for people that lacked the wisdom and skills to act in a civilized way on their own. If you truly seek truth then, I suggest a crash course in Anthropology. If you firmly believe the Bible is an accurate depiction of human history then, nevermind. Life has taught me that sheep don’t need truth, just guidance from anyone or anything that will lay claim to knowing the truth. Think for yourself or you will enter eternity as ignorant as the day you were born. Good luck.

Yes, these people and their absurd religiously-backed bigoted attitudes truly are crazy. Thank you for shedding light on their intolerance.

If I were you Darrell, I’d definately consider boycotting all Canadien products…..and closing our border with Canada……..and arming a northern malitia……and then launch a couple of surgical air strikes on hockey arenas……that of course after you look at yourself in the mirror and declare,”I AM SIN FREE!” Hey, good luck with the hating and bible thumping thing though. Hope you get rid of anyone that you judge sinful.

Just because someone doesn’t agree doesn’t make them intolerant. There are plenty of things I don’t necessarily like, but I tolerate them. I don’t like long lines at check-out counters but I tolerate them. Cut it out with the coded, and loaded PC hate terminology.

Good thinking, Rick. I was “this close” to stoning him to death (as the bible commands) for not having the necessary patience, but I think I’ll go the patience route instead.

Darrell, I love how you are able to pick and choose which portions of the bible supposedly apply to people “today”. Why not throw out the whole thing and be done with it?
  • Anonymous
I’m perfectly fine with disagreement. Just don’t shove your imaginary friend in my face, claiming some divine justification for your bigoted world view.

Plus, you sound like an idiot comparing displeasure at long check-out lines with limiting the rights of others to the freedoms that our Constitution guarantees. Good grief.

You know looking at this is rather sad. They are probably nice women, but I myself would not want to date either. For friends possibly. The point is,Why not do this sort of thing in private, why go public with it. I would say most normal people don’t really approve of Homo actions. I was thinking perhaps they were in despair and had no other to be with. I guess the next step down would be to marry your Dog or any other animal you really liked for companionship. Like I said it really strikes me as SAD. Ever heard of SAD SACK. Well looky here. It’s gonna be Sad in the Sack. Anyway, I hope they can get some happiness in their life from it. That’s what everyone is looking for in one way or another, but I would hope one could find that in a more wholesome manner.

John, one minute you are calling yourself a Christian and the next minute you are calling verses in the Bible a fairytale. Well, which is it? I would say you are definitely no Christian! A Christian believes what the Bible says and doesn’t condone what God declares sin. By your comments, you seem to be a homophile and not a parent. If you are a parent, I pity your children, because it is certain, that they will not be taught God’s morality.

What is so great about that moment? It looks bizarre to me!

    Chris Partlow,

It is not great to see the NHL get behind this! It is a sign of moral decline and the vast wasteland, which this world, is quickly becoming!!!

Eric, Darrell doesn’t have to quote every scripture in the Bible to prove a point. He only has to quote the scripture which pertains to this article, which he did. Let me correct you, the Bible wasn’t meant as a tool for people who lacked wisdom. It is God’s revelation given to man, so man would know what God expects of him. That way, when every man is judged by their deeds, they can’t plead ignorance, saying they didn’t know what God required of them. It is actually the wise who read the Bible and who will see the kingdom of heaven. It is the foolish, who are wise, in their own minds, only, who avoid reading the Bible and in doing so, will prevent themselves from becoming wise. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Stephen, please look up the word ‘sarcasm’ in the dictionary. I’m not sure which of my posts made you believe that I believe in all your Christian nonsense. Was it the hotdog one? If you actually believe that anyone is afraid of their children being corrupted by the consumption of hotdogs, you must have to wear a helmet in everyday life to avoid self inflicted wounds.

You are absolutely correct that I am not Christian. To be Christian is to believe in fairy tales, and use a supposedly divine being as justification for bigotry.

My children are going to be perfectly fine without “God’s morality,” thank you. I, as should you, dispense with your imaginary friend’s rules about homosexuality in the same manner that I dispense with “his” rules about eating shellfish or wearing mixed-fiber clothing. Those rules are nonsense, and no more “moral” than the biblically sanctioned racism you “Good Christians” so conveniently turn a blind eye to.

Again, my children and I will be just fine. We do the right thing, despite our lack of fear of being tortured forever by your “loving god”. I wish I could say the same for you.

Stephen, I agree with you about the NHL’s immorality. I fear it is too late for them though. Heck, they allow women to wear pants within their buildings, not to mention the rampant selling and consumption of hot dogs. What is this world coming to? Holy Jesus/God says those things are immoral and WRONG.

Stephen, you and I should form a protest group. Jeeeezus would want us to warn the sinful women of the world that their shameful pants-wearing ways are going to earn them an eternity of torture in hell!

WORSHIP HIM NOW OR PAY LATER!!!!!!1

I don’t care if gay people are together. I couldn’t care less. But this is just the NHL making a point. The “You can play” campaign is one thing, that actually has to do with hockey. This is just a “SEE!? WE SUPPORT THIS! SEE!? SEE US SUPPORTING THIS, WE SUPPORT THIS!” And that should be insulting to gay people. I wouldn’t want to be paraded around for any reason, much less my sexuality.

Thanks for setting me straight Stephen, now I can judge and hate people and still go to heaven with you and Darrell…AKA the soul savers.

You are 100% right Stephen. I wish that hockey would return to it’s moral roots of fistfights and forechecking. What’s wrong with those NHL dudes? Don’t they see that showing 2 people in love is bad? What happened to good old fashined hockey hatred? After all, that’s what YOUR god really wants to see…..right?
